OFFICE OF SUPERINTENT

Circular Letter

Owosso – July 21, 1960

413.011

ALL CONCERN:

Our piggy back operation has been started with loads of automobiles on trailers loaded on flat cars from Ann Arbor, Michigan.

With 4 automobiles on each trailer, total 8 automobiles per loaded flat car the value of the load is very high and it is very important that these cars be handled carefully in yard and road movement to avoid damage or any displacement of the load.

Trainmen, Yardmen, Car Inspectors, Section men, and others observing these loads will watch them carefully for any indication of defective conditions, loosening or disengagement of fastenings, etc.  We are especially concerned with damage that might be caused by the stoning of those automobiles in moving trains which could cause very serious damage and Trainmen are requested to be on the alert and report any actual or threats or appearance of incidents of such nature.
